What We Do
PSSC exists to support the people and systems that care for vulnerable families in our community. We focus on encouraging and appreciating social workers and foster families, filling gaps when traditional funding or resources fall short, and offering support to families during times of need in thoughtful, dignified ways. We also coordinate educational programming that provides practical tools, builds understanding, and strengthens collaboration across agencies and community partners.
The photos below offer a snapshot of PSSC’s annual events and initiatives, made possible through community support, volunteer involvement, and strong local partnerships. Out of respect for privacy and dignity, photos of children in care cannot be shared, and not all events can be fully documented. What’s shown here reflects just a glimpse of the meaningful work happening throughout the year.

Lunch & Learn: Human Trafficking Awareness
As part of PSSC’s Lunch & Learn education series, we hosted a free session for social workers featuring Hannah M. Palmquist, Unit Chief of the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit with the Georgia Office of the Attorney General (pictured center above, along with members of the PSSC board). The session focused on recognizing human trafficking, understanding how cases are prosecuted, and supporting professionals working on the front lines. This is just one example of the educational programs PSSC coordinates, with additional Lunch & Learns planned on topics such as PTSD and trauma-informed coping strategies.
Foster Family Appreciation Festival
PSSC hosts an annual Foster Family Appreciation Festival to celebrate and thank local foster families with a day of fun, food, and community. The event includes bounce houses, mobile gaming trucks, and special appearances from costumed characters. PSSC helps organize and fund the festival and volunteers alongside community partners to make the day welcoming, joyful, and memorable.

Halloween Costume Closet
PSSC runs the Halloween "Boo-Tique" Costume Closet, a community-supported program that provides children in foster care with costumes at no cost so they can take part in seasonal celebrations just like their peers. With donated costumes and the help of volunteers, the Closet is organized and operated with care, dignity, and respect for privacy. At its heart, the Costume Closet is about inclusion, joy, and helping kids feel celebrated.
Social Worker Appreciation Dinner
PSSC hosts an annual Social Worker Appreciation Dinner to celebrate and thank local social workers for the important work they do every day. Each year features a fun theme, along with dinner, dancing, raffles, and gift bags, all designed to create a joyful and uplifting evening. The goal is simple: to make social workers feel seen, valued, and genuinely appreciated for their dedication to our community.
